Blue Egg Farm LLC is a family-owned farm in Orinda, California that is certified as an Organic Grower and Livestock Producer by the California Certified Organic Farmers (“CCOF”).

Our family is fortunate to live in a beautiful community and farm in one of the bread baskets of America. We relish being part of the vibrant culinary scene in the San Francisco Bay area. As we do our work, we protect our family, neighbors, customers, and land by sowing seeds and growing vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers the old-fashioned way – organically. Our edible and flower seedlings, and vegetables and fruit grow in a rich mix of organic compost, worm castings and kelp. As they grow, they are nourished with organic nutrients from the ocean. These are some of the reasons our vegetables and fruits are incredibly delicious, and, our seedlings are strong and healthy, and ready to thrive when our customers transplant them at their home. We do not use harmful pesticides, fertilizers with sewage sludge and petroleum, or genetically modified organisms. So, our customers and hens eat healthier, and our storm water runoff does not pollute our local creek – Lauterwasser Creek – which we cherish. And we do not pollute the air either; we use a battery-operated lawn mower and other machinery that do not spew gas emissions.

We give our hens a great life with daily access to our pasture, organic soy-free feed and lots of organic greens and vegetables, and secure coops from the critters in our wood. They do not eat chicken feed with antibiotics or hormones and this means our customer don’t either. In addition, we conserve our natural and other resources by packaging our products in compostable, reused, and recyclable materials and containers whenever possible. For example, our seedling stakes are made of wood, not plastic, and our gift pots are made from rice hulls and natural binding agents, which are starch-based, water-soluble, and bio-degradable.  Our customers also return many of our egg cartons and delivery boxes for us to re-use. Finally, solar arrays produce some of our electricity, and drip irrigation systems provide much of the water our plants need to grow. Our FAQs provide more information about our operation.

Quality and sustainability are at the center of all we grow and create. Making you happy is our mission. If you are not completely satisfied with any of our products, we will give you a full refund. We also protect your privacy; we do not provide any information about you to any third party without your permission or unless required by law.

We started our business in 2013 with the love of our family and the help of an amazing team, all of whom are small businesses just like Blue Egg. Thank you for supporting them and us.
