Orinda Books’s customers and staff watched the England-Croatia World Cup semi-final on a big screen at the store. Since England was having its best World Cup success in almost 30 years, we thought the occasion called for strawberries and cream. So, we contributed our organic Mara des Bois Strawberries and Pat Rudebusch made whipped cream. Maria Roden and the other Anglophiles enjoyed the surprise treat and England’s first goal, but that was about it. Although England was not a winner on this day, Maria certainly is. She was named Orinda Business Person of the Year by the Orinda Chamber of Commerce. The award is well-deserved. Congratulations Maria!

We are thrilled that Maria Roden, the owner of Orinda Books, has invited Blue Egg to have a stand at her store. We will offer starts, flowers and herbs early on as well as other products in the coming weeks. Our customers will also be able to pick up their orders at the store. We were so pleased to support the luncheon the store held for Emily Murphy, the author of Grow What You Love: Read More

Our farm is a member of Slow Food USA which has begun a campaign to encourage everyone to eat food grown by their local farms. In light of the devastating fires our farmer friends in Napa, Solano, Sonoma, and Yuba Counties have endured over the last eight days, please support these farms by buying, ordering and eating the food they grow and make. By doing so, you will be making a tangible contribution to their recovery. And, if your grocery store, restaurant, work place or school does not offer locally-grown food, ask that they make a change so that they too can contribute to these farmers and their communities.
